Personal Reflection

In Academic Reading and Writing I learned many things that will help me in my future such as summarizing articles and try to make them in a short summaries , organizing essays ,making bibliographies to help us with our reports .our teacher is mister Gregory on my side I like this teacher because he try to improve us and make us ready before we face the hard work and he is much helpful than other teachers he understand the way that we face our pressure in the whole day and tries to help us to lose our stress by not giving us many woks unlike the math teacher in my opinion he is the best teacher since I entered the HCT. My class mates is very helpful and every student tries to help the others and make the class assignment much easier to our self’s by supporting us in some points and if somebody miss classes after class they call who is absent and see the reason of his absent and carries about the other and try to help him to catch up with the lessons that he missed and if somebody in class get a low grade with any graded summary or an essay the other student try to make him understand what is his mistakes that made him to lose points. In my opinion the this coarse increase us in working on reports and helped us to learn many new ways of communication of things and article that we don’t know and the first time we hear about it.

Graded summary #2

Renewable energy

Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s clean energy company, is planning to build a wind farm which costs $200 million near the Saudi Arabian border. Gulf is not windy region, but they are developing specialized blades for the energy to meet this goal. Masdar is wholly owned by Mubadala. Wind power has more challenges in the GCC. The average costs are $2m per megawatt of wind power (Wind power) is the best projects that will happen in the UAE to have a renewable energy instead of using fossil fuel. There are many different sources like solar and water energy.

Graded summary #1

Houbara bustards

In the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, the Houbara birds are endangered. Between 1995 and last year, the Emirates Center for Wildlife Propagation had care for 60,000 birds in remote Morocco. There are plans of releasing 15,000 birds per season. Humans train the birds that are staying in breathings to be more familiar to them. The female lays three eggs and hatch 24 days. The author says “Even petting the newly hatched birds has a purpose” (Todorova, V. 2011). Chicks are kept in cages until they are released. A year after their release, 65 percent of the birds survive and they are monitored by scientists with radio and satellite transmitter to know every movement of the birds. The last 10 years nesting has increased and the center reached the goal of taking care of endangered species.

Practice Summary #1 - Horsemen

My Summary

A group of horse patrols the Al Awafi desert looking to keep the peace and safe. Horsemen they only carry a walkie-talkies and mobile phones their only weapon is silent’s. They do their rounds quietly and they often stand beside farms and fenced-up listening for any signs of trouble. The horses are trained not to be afraid of people and loud sounds. Horsemen need to be firm when they ride Arabian horses because they are the most powerful horses and they just wants to run. Besides horsemen assisted the police in fugitive – related incidents and drug busts. Horsemen work on shifts after 6pm until midnight and they change shifts. Horsemen are very protective of their horses.
